DIY Distressed Shorts.

Step 1: You will need a pair of old jeans or shorts, and stanley knife, sandpaper, a pen, fabric scissors, and a measuring tape.
Step 2: Measure up to the knee of your jeans, make a mark.
Step 3: Cut your jeans. The reason they are longer than they need to be is because it is so frustrating if you cut them all in one go and cut off more than you need, because then they are ruined.
Step 4: Try on your jeans and draw where you want to cut them. I used a pair of shorts that fit me well as a guide.
Step 5: Using fabric scissors cut along the line.
Step 6: Put a chopping board between the middle of your trouser leg and using a stanley knife cut as many dashes into each short leg as you want.
Step 7: Using a needle put the threads from the dashes and rub over with sandpaper. The sandpaper adds a more distressed look and loosens the fibres in the denim. Do this as much as you want until they look juts how you want!
And you're all done! Enjoy your brand new shorts that cost you nothing!!
Give them a go and let us know how it goes!
