How to get healthy hair!

Everyone wants beautiful, flowing, thick healthy hair. But with everything we do to it, from straightening, curling, and blow drying we manage to do our hair (and everyone is guilty) quite a lot of damage. So every now and again it is good to pamper your greatest accessory. Our salon secrets have come from Ashleigh Turner, who is a hair and make up artist and has worked in salons for over 8 years, with her expertise and our frugal student mindset we have compiled handy tips and tricks so you can treat your hair without breaking the bank!

If you suffer from split ends and short hairs sticking up from your hairline: Try changing your brushing habits. Wait until your hair is completely dry before brushing it. If you brush your hair when it is wet it is more likely to cause hair to break and make you have split ends, especially if your hair is already damaged! Also try using a natural hairbrush with wooden bristles to prevent breakage and keep hair looking healthy and full of life.

If you want a nourishing addition to your shampoo: Take one ripe avocado and mash well. Wash your hair and then apply avocado paste. Leave it in for 20 minutes, then wash it off.
Or use Milk and Honey: Warm 2 cups of whole milk with 1 teaspoon honey.  Pour the mixture on to dry hair and let it sit for 15 minutes.  Shampoo and rinse as usual.

If you want a more intensive hair mask: Wash your hair as normal and towel dry. Apply conditioner and wrap your hair in a towel, so it is warm. This opens the cuticles so gives your hair a more intensive and nourishing condition. Your normal hair conditioner will do the same job as an expensive branded product, but this little trick will save you a bundle.
